One Last Final

It is tuesday, December 21st 2010. The last day of the fall semester and my last final for english is at 4. Once i finish my final, i am free and ready for vacation:). The next semester begins i believe on the 28th of january. Im happy because it is a long vacation unlike the high school vacation and i feel like i deserve it. I worked really hard this semester and believe will be proud when i receive my grades. Im ready for the holidays and fun times to come with my family members. I wanted to travel to colombia this vacation but things didnt work out sooo im just staying in  and spending it with my family.

Bored In School Library

I am currently sitting down with my friend named Karen in the school library. We are both waiting until class begins which is at 4 and my friends at 6. The school library is my favorite spot when i have nothing to do or have to study for a test before class. The library is a quiet and comfortable place that you can stay in and wait till class. The library has many sources like computers with internet, books, etc. I have about two hours left before class and am starving. The only thing keeping my stomach entertained is the PEZ candy, lol. Im BOOORREEdDDDD

Facebook

Facebook is a network where you can connect with your friends around the world through the internet. I think it is a great website because you can keep up and stay updated with your friends and family even if they are in another country. It also is sort of a hobby. It keeps you entertained and perfect for when your bored. The site also includes little games that you can also play with your friends. I like it because it is another way that i can stay connected with my friends in colombia and family besides my phone. I dont have to go and buy a calling card just to get in touch with them soo its really benficial. It allows you to post pictures up and post statuses that can be from what you are feeling to wat you are doing next year and is visible to your friends. Facebook is really popular, everyone i know has an acount of it.

Is it okay to keep secrets from your spouse?

No! I think it is not okay for either member of the relationship to keep secrets from their spouse. A spouse is more than just a girlfriend or boyfriend, it is someone who you love and will spend the rest of your life with till death do yall apart. I think keeping a secret is basically like lying to the one you love. Why keep a secret? I believe either member in the relationship should tell each other everything even if it might get the other mad, sad embarrassed or anything. Your spouse is someone who you should be able to and want to share everything and anything going on in your life. I believe it is not okay for a spouse to lie to any member in the relationship.

After classes..

After classes are over i plan to relax and search for a well paying job. I had planned to travel to Colombia but it was cancelled due to my towns crime rate and rural weather. Lately it has been raining very much in my town causing floods and landslides so my parents think it is to dangerous for me to go for vacation. Other than that i might go with my family up to Pocono Mountain resort for a weekend. During the vacation i want to obtain a night job at JFk airport because it fits my schedule, it is near home and i think it pays well from the stories ive heard. I will definitelly be going out to parties and having night outs with my friends. Im looking forward for christmas to see if I get any cool gifts from Santa. I like Christmas because it brings my family together and to peace. Christmas day is about the only day7 where we all get along, eat and have fun. So this is what my vacation will consist of

"The Tourist"

This past weekend i went to the movies with a few friends to watch The Tourist, starring Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie. It is a drama based movie but it has a little action in it. Johnny Depp finds himself seducted by Angelina Jolie where they both end up in bad footsteps due to their random romance. The movie takes place in Paris but mostly in Venice, Italy towards the end. The movie got a little boring towards the end but then satisfying because of the confusion going on. Yes i thought the movie was ok but not as i thought it would be or as the commercials portray it to be. My friends and I thought the movie should have been way better than it was because it stars two of the most famous hollywood film actors.

My 2010 Summer

This past summer i worked at Camp Cromwell, owned by the BCNY and located in New Jersey. The camp is used for the summer where the kids who sign up reside their during the week for the most of the summer. The program is like a summer school where kids attend class every morning so that when they begin school in the fall, all the material will be fresh in their mind and dont forget it. I was part of the four Kitchen staff who are responsible for serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, setting up tables, cleaning after each meal and making sure the kitchen and dining room remains a safe environment for the kids. I had many long breaks after each meal. So i would sometimes participate in afternoon activities with the kids, go play basketball or usually nap until the next shift because of all the nights i stayed up. During the night my staff along with the lifeguards whom were in the same cabin as ours would workout, watch movies or just stay up playing spades until its time to work. The summer camp job is most likely for students in college who are looking for to make good money for themselves or school. I Like the job because it provides you with food, shelter and most importantly a good pay.

Nintendo 64

Throwbaaacck! lol. I think Nintendo 64 was the best game system ever made until now. I think i was about 7 years old when i first received one for christmas. I think i can say say that nintendo 64 was a definite highlight of my childhood. But the nintendo 64 wasnt complete without the mario kart game. I felt like it was the best thing to ever exist besides food. It brought my family together to play, compete and have fun. It was my addiction because i always wanted to verse my older brother whom id always beat. I felt undefeatable and the best especially since i could beat my older brother whom i looked up to. When i would behave bad, my punishment would result in my nintendo being taken away for a short period of time. I remember i would cry my eyes out but behave the best until i was able to play again. After school i would run home with friends just to play it. I think the second best game for nintendo 64 was Donkey Kong.

Boy's Club of New York

The Boy's Club of New York is a private organization who's mission is to get inner city boys off the street "and into a place where they would be safe, learn better manners and engage in more productive activities". The BCNY consists of three buildings located in Manhattan and Queens. The BCNY has evolved from just being a safe haven for kids to helping, guiding, and encouraging kids to strengthen their physical and educational skills for the better of their future. It is an afterschool program where kids can go to get help, eat, play and learn new things. Th Boys Club offers programs like tutoring, computers, gym, swimming, arts and crafts, music, cultural arts and much more. It also offers jobs to the kids who turn 14 and have their working permits.The BCNY is open to kids from ages 5 - 21. The best thing about it is that enrollment is absolutely free, all it takes is a pen and application.The general hours of operation is from 2:30 to 9:00 depending on the kids age. To me the boys club is like my second home. Without i think i probably wouldnt have made it to college and be on a negative path. The BCNY and their faculty were like my second parents who helped, encouraged and guided my future to where i am now. I will forever be grateful to the Boy's Club of New York. It is the perfect afterschool program for kids who dont have anything to do afterschool, parents who arent home due to work, etc. It's like a mother's bestfriend that she can always benefit from.

Cape Eleuthera

I was one out of about 20 kids who were chosen to spend 2 weeks in the Bahamas through the Boy's Club of New York organization along with 5 close friends who were in the same program. The Island School is located in Cape Eleuthera, Bahamas had some type of contract or relationship with BCNY allowing kids to go every few years to enjoy new experiences. The only thing i had to pay was about $70 for some snorkling equipment. For the whole 2weeks, we would wake up early, exercise, have breakfast, learn about the island's biology, have lunch, go sightseeing or do activities and have dinner. It was an unforgettable experience. We got close to other kids who we didnt know who had similar stories or passed similar experiences. Throughout the two weeks we went scuba diving, snorkeling, cliff diving, kayaking, biking and much more.We werent allowed to bring any type of electronics so we were communicationless. The two main staff who flew with us were the only ones whom kept our parents updated about how we were doing. It was sort of a reality tv show for kids to change except we werent in trouble or really on tv. Our "tour guide" was an ex-marine so you can just imagine the things he had us do. We also helped build ( i dont recall the name).... but it was something that helped prevent the island from floods. We shared a stay in the island school with college interns who came from around the United States and Florida to spend a summer their. The island school consisted of three main buildings. One building was for the kids, the middle building was the kitchen and for eating and the other building was for the interns. It was an absolute great experience, we learned more about biology, manners, respect, self-respect, physical, mental and emotional strength.We also learned how to survive with the only few sources that were provided.

2Bros Pizza

:). I think it's every New Yorker's dream to have this pizzeria on every corner. Now when i say a dollar pizza, i literally mean one pizza for 1 dollar. No tax, not one penny more or anything. Unfortunately their are only 2 of these pizzerias located in New York. Both in the city, one in st. marks and the other near times square. I personally love pizza. So when i have a real craving for it, and have an unlimited metrocard, you bet you'll see me over their. Its perfect, cheap pizza, cheap burgers and cheap fries. You wont find the pizza any smaller, different or anything, it is normal New York pizza except for a much cheaper price. Everytime i go to the city with friends to the movies or just to chill i go eat at 2bros pizza.

College Remedial Math

I think that remedial math is good and bad. It's good because it's basic math that a student should know before approaching college math, so it helps the student out in a way. If the student may have forgotten something or is unsure then remedial math would be good for them. It prepares you to make college math, i guess easier. Now on the other hand for the students who are just entering college and  have to take remedial math because of their low score on the compass test, it may be a setback for them. Students wouldnt be able to take all the classes they expected due to the remedial math. So they would be taking maybe 3 or 4/5 of their expected classes along with remedial math. Now depending on how low the student scored they may be required to take 2 or 3 remedial classes. So basically it makes the student fall behind and not complete their goal of maybe getting out in 2 years.

Black Ops

Black Ops is the new Call Of Duty game for ps3. It is the 5th series. The 4th one to come out is called Modern Warfare 2. Yes Black Ops has all the new guns, more realistic and much more options but i still think modern warfare 2 is the best. Black Ops is a game where you play in teams and eliminate the opposite team players.It has more maps and better game features. You can play in story mode, online with strangers or friends. This game has influenced our nation by millions. It is the most talked about game for years. People from about7 years old and up enjoy playing this game and talking about it. My nephew who is 7 years old already know's how to play and beat the game. But their are pros and cons to it. A pro is that  it is a fun and easy to learn game for kids during their childhood. One con is that it may teach kids about guns and can make them violent. Their mentality of everyday life can interact with the came and cause negative outcomes.

English 101

English 101 is a very interesting, cooperating, fun class. I enjoy attending this class because it is very interesting and opens my mind and viewpoints to how i see or understand different everyday life topics. It is fun to engage in a conversation with classmates who have different points of view and understandings about any topic. You learn how to be respectful and use accountable talk when conversating with your classmates. You can also learn a lot from them because we get to know each other more through their writing and views about topics. I look forward to every tuesday and thursday because the teacher always has a lesson ready for the class, keeps us busy and somehow has a way to get all the students to participate.

"Take out the garbage, stand up straight, wash the dishes, clean the bathroom, rake the leaves, shovel the snow". Im tired of you talking like a wuss, toughen up your voice and if i see a tear come from your face, watch! Crying is for girls, are you a girl? No, your not so dont cry. Every weekend, you are to do these chores because you arent a lazy bum living under my rof. You will listen to my rules and do what you have to do.

Anorexia

I think anorexia is a serious and dangerous problem. To me anorexia is when people starve themselves so they can get skinnier because they might visualize themselves as fat or another reason. I think Anorexia affects mostly women and women in the modeling industry. Reason why i think that is because the women have to meet and maintain requirements so maybe they get used to it or just are so dedicated to their job. It's sad to see how beautiful women go through this and starve themselves to a point where you can see their bones through their skin. It is a mentality that women get and live with which keeps them from eating or just keeping themselves healthy. In my opinion i think that this is a serious problem and that the women who are suffering from this should see a psychiatric and nutrition doctor or something.

Burger King Deal

It is now 4:20 on thursday the 9th of december. I just returned from having lunch at Burger King. I ate two burgers, large fries and a drink. Yes im fat, hahaha. But reason being is because Burger King has the new 2 for $4 deal. It means you can have two large chicken burgers for only $4. I think that's a great deal. Burger King is going to be my new lunch destination for a while as long as the deal is around. Maybe i should work at Burger King since i love it so much and promote it all the time to my friends and family.

Thanksgiving and Black Friday

I had a great thanksgiving this year. I got to see and spend it with most of my family and friends. For the dinner, two of my best friends were gladly invited and my mothers cousins came up from Philadelphia to join us. We had two turkeys, rice,dessert, all kinds of salads and drinks. It was too much food so we had to give all the invitees some so they can take home and eat the next day. My friends, nephews and I played playstation while the adults played a board game and drank. I was so happy to see my mother and family having fun and getting along that night. It's something i dont see everyday or ever. Since the next day was black Friday, which is the greatest shopping day of the year because of all the discounts, we went to the outlets. That night/morning the outlets opened at 12am. So my famly, friends and I headed up there around 4am to do our shopping. We spent the whole day there and left when it was getting dark. We were all so exhausted from walking around and waiting on lines to enter the stores. In the end i bought two pairs of sneakers, two pairs of jeans, 4 long sleeves and 2 sweaters so i was happy.

America's Next Top Model

America's Next Top Model first aired in May 2003. The show is still on the air today. The show is affiliated with the CW television network and airs on the UPN channel. America's Next Top Model is a reality tv show which allows numerous women to compete for America's Top Model title and gives them the chance to start their career in the modeling industry. The show is hosted by the former model Tyra Banks. The reality tv show involves: Competition, Women, Judgment, Adults, Celebrities, Fear, Insult, Deep Friendship, Objectification, Denial, Chance, Love and much more. I think a realty tv show can be classified as exploitative when it allows its contestants to insult, abuse and embarrass each other. Reason being is because that creates drama, attracting more viewers for the success of the show. I don't think America's Next Top Model is exploitative because it doesn't allow it's contestants to reach such extremes because it isn't necessary for the objective and meaning of the show.
